Kucherov Reaction
Alkynes are immiscible in water. However, one molecule of water adds to an alkyne on heating with HgSO4 and diluted H2SO4 at 333 K to form a carbonyl compound. This addition of water to alkynes is named as Kucherov Reaction. The addition of water to alkynes happens according to the Markovnikov's rule.
