Lederer-Manasse reaction is a condensation reaction in which a phenol reacts with 40% aqueous solution of formaldehyde (formalin) in the presence of an acid or base at low temperature to form ortho benzyl alcohol as minor Product and para Benzyl alcohol as Major Product.
