Synthesis of Equilenin
Equilenin, also known as 6,8-didehydroestrone is a naturally occurring steroidal estrogen obtained from the urine of pregnant mares and extensively used for estrogen replacement therapy in postmenopausal women. It's molecular formula is C18H18O2 having molecular weight 266.33 g/mol. It was the first complex natural product to be fully synthesized by Bachmann and Wilds. It is also synthesized by Johnson.
